Some time ago I came across a fantastic illustration of snow white and the seven dwarfs and I was fascinated. The author of the illustration is the American Nancy E. Burkert, Little is known about her and it is very difficult to find her illustrations on the web but I'm sure that when you see this fantastic work you can not love her you too.

The photos you see below is the first picture that I found, quite casually, on Pinterest. The next step was to look for information on the author and I must say that I struggled!

Nancy E. Burkert is an American Illustrator born in 1933, she's mostly known for having illustrated the Brothers Grimm fairy tale Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, but of course you are not limited only to those. Snow White is her most famous work because in 1972 She won the New York Times Notable Book Award and in 1973 Caldecott Award. Between the 1961 and 1989 illustrated and in some cases written 11 books for children.

Her illustrations are amazingly detailed, just to note that represents nature in all its richness and luxuriance. Prefers the use of ’ pencils, ink and Watercolour.

For those who do not know the 1973 Caldecott Award It is a prestigious award which is awarded annually to the best American children's books. To learn more visit the about page Wikipedia.

If you try to do a google search about the illustrator Nancy E. Burkert has very little images and still mostly in low definition.
