Just today that talks about the crisis on the labour market, at least in Italy, I want to offer you a beautiful example of an artist who has reinvented a career, with results not hesitate to define cool. I am talking about Iban Barrenetxea a Spanish artist who passed recently by the career in the world of graphic design to fantastic word of illustration. What to say? An excellent example to follow for those artistic skills and fix worked.

In 2010 Basque artist embarks on a career in the world of illustrated books with several published works and successfully in fiction given that three of his 12 publications are written by him.

Among his works stand out titles that are true classics for “big kids” and for “small kids”, one of all Alice in Wonderland, but also Snow White and one of the 56 Tales of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle dedicated to the famous detective Sherlock Holmes entitled La lega degli uomini dai capelli rossi (The Red-Headed League).

There's no denying his illustrations have a special charm, have you noticed that almost all his characters are shown in profile? Irony of his characters is expressed with almost comical traits, Snow White Prince charming has a less-than-princely nose and bellies of elderly gentlemen are nicely-turned. Less Disney how we are used, less proportionate and therefore less “perfect”, yet fantastically funny. Basically what it means is perfect?

Spanish Illustrator prefer digital technique, use Photoshop and Wacom Tablet, But despite this manages to emphasize the texture that make the less glossy illustration and more realistic. His sources of inspiration are Norman Rockwell and Edward Gorey.

What else can you say about him? One thing… the last, practical advice that is the classic phrase you hear from designers: don't use Comic Sans!
