What will you do next weekend? Yeah, you got it right, What will you do from friday 10 to sunday 12 of july? I will go to visit the Nipponbashi in Treviso and I will make a full immersion of art, Japanese culture and gastronomy. It can be said that I will do a weekend in teryaki sauce.

Once again this year takes place in Treviso Nipponbashi d’Estate and the theme chosen this year is “Spirits and legends“.

For the record, I tell you now that this is the fifth edition of the festival dedicated to the country of the Rising Sun and I must admit that I have arrived a little late to discover it. If you seen it do not hesitate to leave a comment and let me know what you think and how it was.

The event this year for me is particularly interesting because it is a very charming theme tied to the myths and legends which over the centuries have inspired Japanese culture.

I have always been passionate about Japan, and I must say that like many I started thanks to manga, and more than once I have written on inspirewetrust.com about artists, designers and generally Japanese creatives who piqued my interest in this mysterious and inscrutable culture.

One of these that perhaps comes closest to the subject treated from Nipponbashi 2015 is Yoshimasa Tsuchiya with its delicate wooden sculptures depicts spectra, monsters and myths that animate the nightmares of the Japanese. Take a look and let me know what you think.

Maybe, somehow, I was prophetic since the event that appearance with the more interest is March of 100 Spirits, that is the Hyakki Yagyo, an event that is related to Japanese folklore parade 100 different spirits and demons of Japanese mythology:

An old legend tells that every year, on a summer night, the yokai Nurarihyon (a supernatural monster) leads all the spirits through the streets of Japan. Anyone running into these figures are likely to die or spirited away, unless they protects, bringing with them scrolls handwritten anti-yokai.

Judging from the pictures of the tradition I think I'm going to thrust the fantastic world “Spirited away” by Hayao Miyazaki. I look forward.

But this is just one of many activities that the cultural association Nipponbashi organized for this weekend, you can taste traditional dishes and go shopping for products made in Japan and especially concerts, exhibitions and cultural events for all tastes.

For fans of manga and illustration exhibition of Francesca Marina Costa who illustrated the ghosts and demons of Japanese tradition and an exclusive exhibition dedicated to Evangelion.

So? I've been pretty convincing??

I let you some interesting links to visit if you want to know more: the event is organized by’Associazione culturale Nipponbashi. Illustration of 100 the spirits are on Wikipedia.

If you're going to go visit the Nipponbashi then leave a comment below and let me know what you would like to see and maybe we will meet right there.

I will be the one in tears for joy.
